The Delphian School is an independent, K-12, coeducational, day and boarding school of 250 students offering college preparatory, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) and summer programs. Situated in the heart of the magnificent Pacific Northwest, the 800-acre campus of meadows, forests, and rolling hills is near the Oregon coast, the mountains, and the cities of Portland and Salem.

The Delphian School offers a strong English-as-a-Second- Language program year-round to students from the ages of eight through eighteen.

Our goal is to help ESL students become competitive with American students in their pursuit of an American high school and college or university education. We do this by providing a well-rounded education in basic English reading, writing, culture and conversation. Students finishing The Delphian School ESL Program would be placed in the same class as native English-speaking students. The ESL students' English at this point would not be perfect, but the students would be competitive in that class with native English speakers.

Intermediate level ESL students who qualify can enroll any time during the regular school year program or during the summer program. Students below intermediate level must enroll in the Summer Program because beginning ESL is not offered during the regular school year. Contact the Admissions Office for information on what constitutes Intermediate ESL. Most beginning ESL students who attend the six-week summer program can qualify for Intermediate ESL by the beginning of the fall term.

PNAIS Candidate Member The Delphian School is registered with the Oregon Department of Education, is a member of the Oregon Federation of Independent Schools and a candidate member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools. The school is authorized under Federal Law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.
